Privacy policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
This policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal information when you visit jimpsy.com, shop with us or contact our team.
1. Who we are
Jimpsy is operated by JIMPSY LTD, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 16187953. Our registered office is 49 Dagmar Road, Chatham, ME4 5HB, United Kingdom.
JIMPSY LTD is the data controller. This means we are responsible for how your personal information is used for our store, orders and customer service. Contact support@jimpsy.com with questions about this policy or to exercise your privacy rights.
2. Information we collect
When you place an order, create an account, subscribe to our emails or contact us, we collect the details you provide. These may include your name, email address, delivery and billing addresses, order details, payment transaction information and messages. We also collect a telephone number if you provide one for delivery, WhatsApp support or a callback.
We also receive device and website usage information, such as your IP address, browser, pages viewed and interactions with our store, subject to applicable cookie choices. Payment providers process the payment information needed to complete your purchase. We receive transaction details and payment confirmation.
We obtain information directly from you, through your use of our website, and from providers helping us process payments, fulfil orders and operate the store. Please avoid sending information we do not need, such as full payment card details in an email or WhatsApp message.
If you submit a product review, we receive the review, rating and any images or other details you choose to provide. Your review and chosen display name may appear publicly. We may also receive messages and account details when you contact us through social media.
3. Why we use your information
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Process orders, payments, delivery and returns; answer questions before a purchase | To perform our contract with you or take steps at your request before entering a contract. |
| Keep records and meet tax, accounting and other legal obligations | Compliance with our legal obligations. |
| Handle general enquiries, improve customer service, prevent fraud and keep the store secure | Our legitimate interests in running and protecting our business, where these do not override your rights. |
| Send the email marketing you have subscribed to | Your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time. |
| Use optional analytics, personalisation or advertising technologies | Your consent where required. The features used must match your cookie choices. |
We need certain contact, payment and delivery details to fulfil an order. If these are not provided, we may be unable to complete your purchase or deliver your goods.
We handle product reviews and feedback to help customers make informed choices and improve our service. This is in our legitimate interests, balanced against your rights. We will ask for permission before using your photographs or feedback in separate promotional content where required.
4. Who we share information with
We share information where needed with providers who help us run the store. These include Shopify, payment providers, delivery companies and providers of customer support, business email and other store services. Our store apps include Judge.me for product reviews, HideShip for delivery rules, and Shopify Messaging and Flow for communications and store workflows. They receive the information needed for the service they provide.
We may also share relevant information with professional advisers, regulators or public authorities where legally required, or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. If ownership of the business changes, relevant information may be transferred with appropriate safeguards and notice where required.
5. Shopify and international processing
We use Shopify to run our website and process orders. Shopify also provides a service called Network Intelligence, which is enabled for our store.
This service uses details about your browsing and shopping at Jimpsy, together with details from other shops that use Shopify. Shopify uses this information to improve its services and show products and adverts that may interest you. Your privacy choices apply, and consent is requested where required.
Shopify is responsible for how it uses information for this service. You can read Shopify’s Consumer Privacy Policy or use Shopify’s Privacy Portal to make a request about your information.
Some companies that help run our store may store or process your information outside the UK. Where UK law requires protection for these transfers, we rely on countries recognised by the UK as providing adequate protection, or approved contract terms that require the recipient to protect your information. Contact us for details or a copy of the relevant safeguards.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses necessary cookies for features such as your basket, account access and checkout. Optional cookies help us understand how visitors use our website, remember their preferences and show relevant adverts. You can choose which optional cookies to allow through Cookie preferences. We request consent where required before using them.
You can review or change your choices using Cookie preferences in the website footer. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect particular features. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
7. Marketing and customer messages
If you subscribe to our marketing emails, we use your email address to send offers, news and product updates. You can unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email or by contacting support@jimpsy.com.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop essential messages about an order, delivery, return or customer service request. If you contact us on WhatsApp, we use the information you send to answer your enquiry. WhatsApp also uses information to operate its messaging service, as explained in WhatsApp’s Privacy Policy. Contacting us for help does not subscribe you to marketing emails.
Our website links to external services, including social media and payment providers. Those services explain their own use of information in their privacy notices. Please check these notices when you use an external service.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Order and payment records are retained to meet accounting and tax requirements, manage returns and warranty claims, and deal with legal claims. Support enquiries are retained for as long as needed to resolve the enquiry and maintain an appropriate record of the outcome.
Marketing information is retained while you remain subscribed or until it is no longer needed. We may keep a limited record of your unsubscribe request so that we continue to respect your choice. When deciding how long to retain information, we consider legal requirements, the nature of the information and the purpose for which it was collected.
9. Your privacy rights
Subject to the circumstances and applicable law, you can ask to access or correct your personal information, request its deletion, restrict processing, object to certain uses, or receive a portable copy of certain information so you can reuse it or transfer it to another provider.
You can object to direct marketing at any time. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can also object for reasons relating to your circumstances. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Email support@jimpsy.com to make a request. We may need reasonable information to verify your identity. We normally respond within one month. If a lawful extension is necessary, we will explain why and when you can expect a response. These rights are not absolute; for example, some records must be kept to comply with legal obligations.
10. Security and children
We use appropriate measures to protect personal information, but no website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your account access and verification codes private. Our store is intended for adults making purchases. If you believe a child has provided information inappropriately, please contact us so we can assess and address it.
11. Complaints and changes
If you have a concern about how we use your personal information, please contact support@jimpsy.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
We may update this policy when our services or information practices change. We will update the date and provide further notice where required.
